The prospective law under discussion was the call for New Education Reforms. Dr. O G Dayaratne – Banda, Senior lecturer in Economics at the University of Peradeniya made the first (main) presentation under the heading “An Economic Analysis and Prescriptions” followed by a joint presentation by Mr. Upali Chandrasiri, Coordinator, Coalition for Better Education and Mr. Buddhadasa Sooriyarachchi, Director, Royal Institute and former Principal of Richmond and Royal College.

The Pathfinder Foundation in collaboration with SLBDC,  has organized its Seventh Community Meeting (Sanvada) on the Government Budget  to be presented to the Parliament on 7th November .  The objective of this Community Meeting is to share the findings of the analytical studies commissioned by the Pathfinder Foundation on various aspects of the budget including its impact to the economic growth,  and macro economic, sectoral and firm level implications of the tax proposals.

The Hon. Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara accepting  the Inaugural Issues of the  Briefing Notes  on socio-economic issues discussed at Sanvada Programmes held recently  from the  Executive Director of the Pathfinder Foundation . These Briefing Notes are to be circulated among the MPs, senior policy makers, Chambers, Trade Unions and other Civil Society Organizations.  The Briefing Notes , in all three languages, cover  subject areas such as The Budget Process, Electricity Reforms, Land Titling, Micro-Finance and New Companies Act.
