The Pathfinder Foundation organized its 27th public seminar (Sanvada) on the 30th of June 2011 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute on “Free and Free to Choose Higher Education”. Dr. Athula Ranasinghe, Associate Professor from the Department of Economics of the University of Colombo made the main presentation on “Free and Free to Choose Higher Education: Role of State, Private Sector and Regulation”. Dr. Sujata Gamage, Lead Scientist from LIRNEasia and former Director General, Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission followed with her presentation on “Why a National Qualification Framework Should be a Priority”.

The Pathfinder Foundation in collaboration with the Centre for Indo – Lanka Studies held its 26th public seminar (Sanvada) on the 9th of June 2011 at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management. The Sanvada was on India as a Source Market for the Tourism Industry of Sri Lanka. The eminent academic, Sirimal Abeyratne, Professor of Economics at the University of Colombo has completed a timely and well researched analytical study for the Pathfinder Foundation, the economic think-tank on the subject. This study includes a detailed analysis of the current status and characteristics of Indian tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka, and identifies a number of benefits from further promotion.
