New Audit Act for Sri Lanka-Sanvada 8

The First Sanvada for the year 2008 and 8th in the series, took place on the 4th (Friday) of April 2008, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI).
 
ImageThe legislation under discussion was the Proposed Audit Act. The Sanvada's main presenters were Mr. Naganathan Selvakkumaran, Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, who analyzed the Act from a legal perspective, made a presentation titled "Proposed New Audit Act: A Critical Analysis". Mr. Amrit Rajapakse, Attorney-at-law & Independent Researcher, the other presenter however, evaluated the impact the Act would have on the Economy and Business. The title of Mr. Rajapakse's presentation was "A Business/Economic Critique of the Draft Act".

The Pathfinder Foundation in collaboration with SLBDC,  has organized its Seventh Community Meeting (Sanvada) on the Government Budget  to be presented to the Parliament on 7th November .  The objective of this Community Meeting is to share the findings of the analytical studies commissioned by the Pathfinder Foundation on various aspects of the budget including its impact to the economic growth,  and macro economic, sectoral and firm level implications of the tax proposals.

Sanvada

“SANVADA” is a non-partisan, non-profit Project being promoted by the Pathfinder Foundation  with support of Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

“SANVADA” is just being launched with the objective of promoting and facilitating public debate in national debate on economic and social issues in Sri Lanka.  Its main target audience is Members of Parliament, Officials in Policy Making Agencies, Private Sector Organizations, such as Chambers and Leaders in other Civil Society Organizations and general public.  Our key values are freedom, democracy, justice, peace and harmony.
